It’s All In The Details – Skull Cashmere

It’s Sunday Funday and I hope everyone is out having a good time on this beautiful day. The weather in NYC has been a bit crazy the past few weeks. Even the other day it was 80 degrees outside and I was wearing shorts a t-shirt! Crazy I know, but now it is finally starting to feel a lot like fall. My favorite part about fall weather is all of the amazing sweaters you can bundle up in. In the past, in stores, it was always the same when it came to sweaters. Whether they were cashmere or a blend of fabrics, they always seemed to be in solid colors or maybe have some stripes, but nothing more than that. Now I am seeing designers take a little bit more risk and adding different unique details into their sweaters. One of my favorite cashmere sweaters brands is 360cashmere. I may be a little biased because the brand was started by one of my best friends’ parents :-). Their son Andrew started his own line under the 360cashmere umbrella and called it Skull Cashmere. The moment I saw the first sweater from Skull Cashmere line I was hooked. I am one of those girls that my closet, including my sweaters, is normally solid colors. I have my black, greys, and neutral colors, but I didn’t have anything with any pattern on it. Especially in my sweaters I didn’t own one with a pattern on it. This Skull Cashmere sweater is honestly my go to sweater for fall. It is a great color and the cut of the sweater just fits me perfectly. Whether I am wearing leggings or a pair of jeans it just works with everything. You can wear it day or night, doesn’t matter the occasion, it’s perfect. I also love how the sleeves aren’t tight around the wrists because I always feel like with my other sweaters, since I’m short, when they are cut that way it just doesn’t fit me properly. The Hangover Cure

Hi Everyone! I wanted to say thank you to all of my friends and family who helped make my 27th birthday so special <3. 27 is already starting off amazing and I can’t wait to see what this year has to bring. Obviously last night I had a few cocktails to celebrate and the worst feeling is waking up the next morning with a terrible hangover. Personally, I have heard of so many different things to cure a hangover from the simplest ideas to the craziest ones. One of the craziest things that I have heard to help cure a hangover is Pedialyte. Yes, Pedialyte, the drink that you see in CVS that’s supposed to give children electrolytes is one of the best cures for hangovers. After one of my friend’s weddings in LA, a bunch of us were in the car on the way to the brunch and we were all so hungover and someone said let’s stop and get some Pedialyte. I was so confused! They said that someone had told them about this years ago and it actually works! Well, needless to say I was proven wrong and it worked wonders! If you have a terrible hangover that is the best way to cure it! However, if you are like me and don’t necessarily always need that, the way to go is a good Gatorade, breakfast sandwich, and if you are feeling up to it, a muffin. The more carbohydrates in your system the better for you. Gatorade helps refuel you and make you feel so reenergized- you will thank me later. Take care of your body because the worst feeling is starting off the work week feeling completely drained from you entire weekend. Here’s to being 27 or as someone told me last night- 3 years until I am officially 30! EEEK!!! Cheers!

The Best Wedding Date – Your Choos <3

Happy Thursday everyone! Recently I have been attending / invited to my fair share of weddings and one of the major things that can make or break your outfit is your shoes. Not only are you going to be standing around sometimes even on grass, but also you will be dancing the night away with all of your friends. Something that my mother said to me when I was looking for shoes recently was to find one with a little bit of a platform. Why a platform? When a heel like these black patent leather Jimmy Choos, a platform allows your foot to be so arched. As my mom likes to tell me it also is to not make you feel like you are walking on stilts. A lot of the platform patent shoes that I saw in stores I wasn’t a fan of for the fact that I felt that the platform was too noticeable to the naked eye. I like these shoes because the platform is seamlessly hidden at a quick glance. Again with these shoes I did my little trick to break them in. One day I wore socks and walked around with them for a few hours and sat with them as well and then the next day without socks. This way my feet got used to not only standing in heels but walking around in them comfortably. When buying wedding shoes my other suggestion is to not just buy shoes that match the color of your dress. Buy shoes that you can wear with multiple dresses so you A. don’t have more shoes in your close than you need and B. hopefully by the end of wedding season as some people like to call it your shoes will be so broken in that you can keep them on for an entire evening without any blisters or anything! Hump Day Treat: In Honor Of My Birthday On FRIDAY!!!

It’s Wednesday so you know what that means? Time for another Hump Day Treat recipe to share with all of you. My 27th birthday is this Friday, October 21st (CRAZY!!) so I wanted to share with you one of my favorite guilty pleasure recipes in honor of my birthday. One of my favorite things to make in college was something called puppy chow. NowI know what you all are thinking it sounds like dog food, but it’s honestly amazing and super easy to make. So When I when I stumbled upon this recipe for cupcake puppy chow from getinmybelly.com I knew I had to share it with you all. I personally like to keep my puppy chow in the freezer until I am ready to serve it, but that is entirely up to your personal preference. Here is what you need:

Ingredients:

4.5 cups rice chex cereal (I normally use a full box)
¼ cup salted butter
3 tbsp heavy cream
10 oz white chocolate candy melts or pure white chocolate
1 tsp almond emulsion or extract
1 tsp butter emulsion or extract
1 and ½ cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Pour cereal into a large mixing bowl
In a medium sized sauce pan on a low heat melt the butter, cream and white chocolate. Stir constantly until all of the white chocolate is melted
Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the almond extract and butter extract
Pour the warm white chocolate over cereal and stir well. I have in the past made the mistake thinking I could use my hands but then burned them so be careful
about 3-4 minutes later no longer than that gently mix in the sprinkles.The last thing you want is for the sprinkles not to adhere to the chocolate but also lose their color
In a large ziplock bag put some powdered sugar in it then pour half the cereal in the large bag or container. Personally I split the cereal with powdered sugar into two bags and then also pour extra powdered sugar on top.
Close the bag and shake until the cereal is coated with the powdered sugar
Place in the freezer until cold
Take out of the freezer and enjoy!!

Fitness Tuesday: The Right Leggings For You

Its Fitness Tuesday here on Just Jodi Style and I wanted to share with you all my new go to work out legging. In the past I have always loved leggings for working out, but as we all know leggings don’t always stay put where they should be. Also while working out a lot of the times I feel like they lose their shape to the point where I am constantly pulling up my leggings in the middle of my work out classes. Well say no more to this problem because I have found the answer. The answer is high waisted leggings! These amazing leggings from Lululemon are not only high waisted, but they keep their shape through every wear. One of the many complaints I have seen in the past from other shoppers at Lululemon is that the leggings tend to billow by the middle part and also tend to get white little balls of fuzz all over them after so many washes. These leggings are the full – on luxtreme and I can guarantee you that the problems that you may have faced before with previous leggings from Lululemon are a thing of the past. I have had these pairs of leggings for over 6 months now and they still look like brand new every time I wear them. If you are not into the high waisted legging, but want to make sure that your leggings stay in perfect condition then the way to go is full – on luxtreme. The Wristlet Is Back!

Happy Monday! It being the start of the week I wanted to throw it back today to a trend that we all know too well. When I was 13 the purse that everyone in my grade had was a wristlet. It wasn’t too big and it was just big enough that whenever any of my friends and I were going to a party we were able to fit our lip glosses and cellphones inside. Now the wristlet is back in style and a lot of different designers are bringing back this trend, but putting their own spin on it. Now back in the day the wristlets I always saw were just a smaller version of a purse and not really structured or anything of that sort. This Louis Vuitton wristlet is now my go to bag when I am not in the mood to carry a purse on my shoulder. Surprisingly I am able to fit a lot into this bag with it still laying seemingly flat. Inside there is even a divider and slots in the back to put your credit cards in. For me that was a major selling point because it is hard enough to fit all of your must haves into a smaller bag, but when a bag makes it easier for you to carry all the things you want and more that is huge. My suggestion if you are looking for a wristlet is buy one that is neutral in colors. This Louis Vuitton one I can wear with almost everything and if it came in black I would probably buy it as well. Also as i just previously said that the major selling point for this bag for me was the card slots is to make sure that you can fit your 3 major necessities when you go out. Those three things are your cell phone, wallet and your keys. I personally have a Iphone 6s Plus and finding a bag that fits that big phone is hard to find, but this one does it easily. No Scarf? No Problem! Donni Thermal Gigi

Happy Sunday Everyone! Today it is absolutely gorgeous out in NYC. This past week it has slowly been getting colder and finally starting to feel like fall. However, there are still days like today where I walk outside and I can’t decide if I want to wear a scarf or not. One of the major trends that Kendall Jenner has been rocking a lot recently are the neck scarves. One of my favorite scarves from Donni Charm was their the Donni Thermal from a few seasons ago. It looks like a waffle material, but it is so soft you can live in it. When I saw they were making the thermal in the smaller Gigi neck scarf cut I knew I had to buy every color they made. The Thermal Gigi is light and comfortable and being 100% cotton it is the perfect addition to any outfit this fall. Especially when you don’t want to wear a scarf or you just don’t want to have to carry it with you when you are out and about. I personally wear the Thermal Gigi instead of even a necklace sometimes because when I am wearing it out it as if I already have a necklace on. Don’t think that because it is a neck scarf means that it can only be worn one way. You can also wear it where it is just simply laying on your neck and tied once in the front or even in your hair as a headband. There are so many different ways to wear it and use this item. All Red Everything

For anyone that knows me, my closet usually consists of black, white and beige. I am not one of those people that likes to wear a lot of color, but I am trying to step out of my comfort zone and wear things that normally I wouldn’t wear. One day while going through Gilt I saw that one of the brands listed was Black Halo and I only knew about them because I had just purchased a dress from them for my best friend’s sister’s wedding in Florida. When you look at this outfit at first glance you think it’s a dress right? Well you would be incorrect because it is a skirt and a crop top, but they are sold together as an outfit! I love the fact that it is two pieces because if I wanted to wear them separately and mix and match them with something else I can. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the length of the skirt, but they have this outfit now with a shorter skirt option if you don’t like the length of it. One of the other major things that made me fall in love with this outfit was the fact that the skirt has pockets. I don’t know why, but you can ask any girl if a dress / skirt has pockets it’s a game changer. Black Halo’s outfits even when not on Gilt are fairly priced and are very comfortable and easy to wear for any occasion. As I previously said, I normally don’t wear color, but this shade of red on me, even when I am not tan and am pale, didn’t look bad on my skin tone. Some reds are a lot brighter than this one it’s just the matter of finding the right shade of a color that works best for you. Steals & Deals – Off The Shoulder T

Happy Friday everyone! I was traveling yesterday from Miami back to NYC and didn’t have a chance to post, but don’t worry because I have something exciting to share with you all today. For today’s Steals & Deals I want to share with you this amazing off the shoulder tee from Express. I first saw this shirt while reading a post from Who What Wear. They were showing all the models during New York Fashion Week rocking this simple T and I immediately went to express the next day. In the stores if you dig through the racks you will be able to find them, but hurry fast because they have reduced the price of this amazing T even more! Personally I got a size small because I wasn’t sure how much it was going to shrink after the wash. I have washed it already and it barely shrank at all! Remember for tops like these you need to have a great strapless bra especially one without lace detailing. I only say this because I put on my lace strapless bra under this top and you could see the lace detailing through the shirt. Off the shoulder shirts were a big hit this past summer and going into fall there is no reason why you can’t make this a new staple piece in your wardrobe. In college whenever a trend was really hitting its stride I knew that Express would come out with a similar less affordable version and they really hit it out of the ballpark with this one. They also have amazing bodysuit options if you are more into that type of style. If you haven’t gone already go now! Especially at these prices how can you say no?
