Happy Friday everyone! I was traveling yesterday from Miami back to NYC and didn’t have a chance to post, but don’t worry because I have something exciting to share with you all today. For today’s Steals & Deals I want to share with you this amazing off the shoulder tee from Express. I first saw this shirt while reading a post from Who What Wear. They were showing all the models during New York Fashion Week rocking this simple T and I immediately went to express the next day. In the stores if you dig through the racks you will be able to find them, but hurry fast because they have reduced the price of this amazing T even more! Personally I got a size small because I wasn’t sure how much it was going to shrink after the wash. I have washed it already and it barely shrank at all! Remember for tops like these you need to have a great strapless bra especially one without lace detailing. I only say this because I put on my lace strapless bra under this top and you could see the lace detailing through the shirt. Off the shoulder shirts were a big hit this past summer and going into fall there is no reason why you can’t make this a new staple piece in your wardrobe. In college whenever a trend was really hitting its stride I knew that Express would come out with a similar less affordable version and they really hit it out of the ballpark with this one. They also have amazing bodysuit options if you are more into that type of style. If you haven’t gone already go now! Especially at these prices how can you say no? If you can’t go to the store check out express online and see all of their other amazing off the shoulder options they have available now.
Micro Mini Handbag
This past year has been all about the micro mini handbag. Whether you saw Kendall Jenner carrying her baby Céline back or all of the editors walking with their mini bag to fashion week, it was and continues to beeverywhere! I knew if I was going to buy a micro mini handbag, regardless of the designer, it would have to be in a color that I would wear often. What color do I wear the most often when it comes to handbags? Of course the answer was clear: I would be looking for a black micro mini handbag. When I heard that Louis Vuitton was making their Alma bags in black monogram vernis leather I was hoping they would be making the small version, the Alma BB. Lucky for me they had it! The shape was classic and it wasn’t a regular leather bag that would show scratches on it very quickly. I also loved that it came automatically with the cross-body strap for the bag. Sometimes with these micro mini handbags they don’t always come with the cross body strap and you have to purchase them separately. If you are already spending so much money on a bag why it doesn’t come with the strap is beyond me,and since this bag did I was ecstatic about it, this clearly was the right choice. This is now my go to bag for anything when I go out. It is not too small that I am trying to stuff all of my things for the night in and it is not too big that I feel like I am still carrying my everyday bag around when I go out at night. It comes in a variety of colors and material options on their website. My suggestion if you are going to buy a micro mini handbag is, as I mentioned earlier, to go with a color that you know you wear a lot of. Also a general rule for this and for fashion, don’t settle for a bag or item just to have one. It is worth the wait to get the bag and item you really want.
Hair Color Anonymous
Here is a little secret about me: I am a natural brunette, not just any brunette, but a dark haired brunette. Now that is something that surprises most people after meeting me because the majority of my life I have had some sort of blonde coloring in it, but to their disbelief I am a natural dark haired brunette. I have done every color you can think of…blonde highlights, all over brown, honey brown, ombre, platinum blonde, honey blonde, and even grey. Yes I did try the grey trend on my hair for one month, but for anyone wanting to try this it does not stay in your hair very long even when using purple hair shampoo. Purple hair shampoo is what I was told to use to keep the grey in longer, but it faded very quickly. Despite trying various colors, , I always seem to go back to the ombre hair color. The benefit of the ombre is that since my hair is so dark naturally even when it grows out you can’t really tell, it still looks great.. hen I had all the blonde highlights or even the platinum blonde I would have to get my hair colored more often because my roots would show, but with ombre they don’t so the upkeep is easier and cheaper. When picking a new hair color it’s always best to trust your colorist. Regardless if I may say I want my hair to get this blonde or this color my colorist always tells me what is realistic and what will not kill my hair. Yes, hair always grows back, but as you get older your hair changes and the last thing you want to do is ruin your hair. Take care of it. My biggest suggestion if you get your hair colored as often as I do (I go every 8 weeks) is to ask for a conditioning treatment before you leave the hair salon.
Bridal Shower Ready
Ive realized over the last year that every season is wedding season. I remember thinking that most people get married in the spring or the summer but it turns out now that many of my friends are starting to move into the next phase in their relationships it is ALWAYS wedding season. Aside from what to wear as a guest to a wedding I have found that there are endless other wedding related events that I have needed to dress for. Today lets talk about the bridal shower. What to wear AND what not to wear. Most importantly DO NOT under any circumstances wear white (that’s for the bride). Also dont buy something new for every occasion. While it may feel exciting to wear something special you can’t wear something special for every bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, bachelorette party, and wedding. That would be crazy…Be practical and try to find a few pieces that will work for a number of events (for different weddings). I recently attended a bridal shower on a day that was unseasonably cold. I was not expecting the chill and had to adjust my planned ensemble to fit the weather. I believe you can almost never go wrong with black tights. They usually go unnoticed and can make your outfit cold weather ready. After deciding on the tights I decided to pair them with this dress from Nordstrom by RtA. It is a great piece that I know will be able to go with me from this season to the next. Warning: This dress is suede one spill of a drink and the outfit is history…there are many similar styles that come in faux suede which might be a better option for those of us who can be clumsy or have clumsy friends.
