Happy Thursday! Also happy first day of June! I personally never feel like it is truly summer until June hits. One of my favorite things about summer is the fact that it is officially sandal weather! Growing up in Miami and then going to school in Arizona I never had to deal with snow and really the cold for extended periods of time. Since I never had to deal with this in the past it was always sandal weather, but now since living in New York City I get excited for the time of year that it really matters if you have a pedicure. This is the time you get to show off your personality with your toe polish and what better way to start summer off with National Nail Polish Day!!! I have been known amongst my friends to be an expert when it comes to nail polishes. There was once a quiz online to name all the names of different brands of polishes and needless to say I got a 100%. Some of my favorite brands include Essie, OPI, Tom Ford and Chanel. I personally wear Essie and OPI more than most because you can buy majority of their colors at your local drug stores. I usually purchase my polishes after one wear of them because 1. I want to make sure that I like it and 2. If I mess up my nails or chip them I can fix it on my own without having to go back to the nail salon. During summer I love to wear the lighter colors like Essie – Fiji, Essie – Go Ginza, OPI – Why Can’t We Be Friends and OPI – Alpine Snow. Also its not a rule that you have to match your toes to your hands. I always do a gel polish on my hands except for the off week that I put the nail strengthener on so it never truly matches the normal nail polish colors. Go out now and get a bottle of nail polish and help celebrate National Nail Polish Day with a fresh manicure and pedicure. <3
Bachelorette Monday!
Happy Monday! Today is an exciting day because #BachelorNation is back!! Tonight begins the season of the Bachelorette and I am so excited. Crazy enough I know one of the men competing this season for Rachel’s heart and I can’t wait to see how far he goes. I haven’t spoken to him in a few years or I would ask him for some spoilers. In honor of tonight’s season premiere I want to show you one of my favorite cocktail dresses that I have worn to a ton of weddings. Now over the years the girls on this show have had some hit and misses when it comes to their rose ceremony outfits. I love when they all wear long gowns, but there is something to say about a beautiful short dress. I love that this dress is simple with black and white lace, but here’s hoping that Rachel comes out in a stunning red outfit like this one from Black Halo.
All I know is I can’t wait to see what Rachel is wearing on the first rose ceremony tonight, but I am also interested to see what the guys are wearing too. Tune in tonight on ABC and see for yourselves!

My Go To Winter Bag – LV
Happy Thursday and happy first day of December! It’s crazy how much time has flown by and we are almost in 2017! So you all still have some time to think of your New Year’s resolutions, but until then let’s end 2016 with a bang! One of the things that I noticed when moving to New York City is that especially with the snow and rain and all the different weather climates you need a bag that is weatherproof for all of them. Especially a bag that if you need something while it is snowing outside you don’t have to dig around inside to find what you are looking for. I got this bag a few years ago from Louis Vuitton and since then they have revamped it a little to include different colors and handles to match the color inside. The Pallas bag also now comes in a smaller version as well. This bag comes with the general shoulder strap if you don’t want to wear with just the normal handles. Louis Vuitton is also offering for purchase a longer strap if you want to wear the bag cross body or just other different shoulder straps for all of their bags in the store. This allows you to change up your normal bag that you may have had for years with a new accessory to it. I personally love this bag because first off it has a zipper on top, but the side pockets are easily accessible especially when it is snowing heavily outside and need to get something fast. This is my go to bag for everyday during the winter and even the smaller version of this bag is a great size for everyday wear this winter. Check out the Louis Vuitton website for all the different color options that they have. I personally would go with a darker color, but it’s all up to personal preference. Hope everyone has a great day!
Investment Pieces – Chanel Wallet On A Chain
Happy Monday! One of the topics I have discussed before on Just Jodi Style is investment pieces. They are certain pieces that aren’t only investment pieces because they are classic items that will never go out of style, but also because over time they will increase in value. I have seen numerous articles recently say that Chanel bags in black caviar are the best item to invest in right now. Why is that? They say that within 5 years they will increase at least 10 – 15% in value. That is crazy! This Chanel wallet on the chain bag in black caviar is my absolute favorite. I wanted this bag for as long as I can remember, but I always saw it in black and gold hardware. I am personally not a big gold person and I knew I wouldn’t wear it if it was black and gold so I put myself on the waitlist for the black and silver version. I was on the waitlist for over a year and it well worth the wait. Some pieces like this Chanel bag it doesn’t matter how large or how much you spent on the bag, but the actual versatility of the bag. This bag is so versatile that is why I believe it constantly increases in value. It is a great size bag for going out, but also in general if you just want a small bag for everyday. I am able to fit all of the contents of my wallet in the purse, my cell phone and pretty much anything else I need for my day. When you are thinking about investment pieces find a bag that you know you will wear not just for an evening out, but potentially during the day. Also do not pick one that is a crazy color. I always say with investment pieces stick to the neutral colors Black and Beige. Personally for all of my investment pieces they are all in black, but that is because that is what my closet mostly consists of. Another tip about investment pieces is do your research. Look at what other people are writing about the bag you are considering purchasing and also look at flash sale websites. It is always interesting to me to see how much my investment pieces are going for on those flash sale websites when they are considered “Lightly worn”. Remember it’s worth waiting for the bag you truly want because at the end of the day this investment piece is a bag you will have for your lifetime. You want to make sure it is something you will love not just in a month from now, but years from now. Hope everyone has a great Monday and congratulations again to everyone who ran the New York City Marathon yesterday!!
The Vintage Find
Vintage pieces in the past were hard to come by. You could spend hours exploring vintage shops around the city and while these adventures were fun it was always hit or miss. Now we are seeing more and more of them popping up on the online market. Whether it be on Gilt, Ruelala or on Therealreal a lot of people are selling their old pieces and I love it! When buying vintage I personally prefer to see it in person. Being able to touch and feel the product helps me to see its condition. On many websites vintage items can not be returned and that can sometimes make me nervous. This vintage Chanel black beaded and pearl necklace is one I “borrowed” while raiding my mother’s closet. I saw it and instantly fell in love! When wearing vintage items that most important trick to keeping them like new is putting them away properly. Many older treasures such as this are fragile and need to be handled with care. When putting away delicate jewelry for example you should always put it in the jewelry bag and box it came in. Yes this takes up some space which in a New York apartment is limited…but if you want your pieces to last its worth it.
Bridal Shower Ready
Ive realized over the last year that every season is wedding season. I remember thinking that most people get married in the spring or the summer but it turns out now that many of my friends are starting to move into the next phase in their relationships it is ALWAYS wedding season. Aside from what to wear as a guest to a wedding I have found that there are endless other wedding related events that I have needed to dress for. Today lets talk about the bridal shower. What to wear AND what not to wear. Most importantly DO NOT under any circumstances wear white (that’s for the bride). Also dont buy something new for every occasion. While it may feel exciting to wear something special you can’t wear something special for every bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, bachelorette party, and wedding. That would be crazy…Be practical and try to find a few pieces that will work for a number of events (for different weddings). I recently attended a bridal shower on a day that was unseasonably cold. I was not expecting the chill and had to adjust my planned ensemble to fit the weather. I believe you can almost never go wrong with black tights. They usually go unnoticed and can make your outfit cold weather ready. After deciding on the tights I decided to pair them with this dress from Nordstrom by RtA. It is a great piece that I know will be able to go with me from this season to the next. Warning: This dress is suede one spill of a drink and the outfit is history…there are many similar styles that come in faux suede which might be a better option for those of us who can be clumsy or have clumsy friends.
The Shearling Coat
Since last year I have been searching for a shearling coat. I have searched and searched and couldn’t find one that I loved. Sometimes I purchase my winter items towards the end of one season when they go on sale to have them for the following year. If you are like me and go to Florida always check out the winter section during the fall. Since no one in Florida is buying winter items they always go on sale there first. This amazing Vince shearling jacket I found online at Last Call by Neiman Marcus for a ¼ of the price! It was sold out everywhere and when I ordered it I crossed my fingers waiting for that email saying that it had shipped. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the color when I bought it since most of my closet consists of neutral colors, however it is stunning in person. If you are like me and don’t buy much color start off with earth tones like this Hunter green color and ease your way towards other colors. This is my go to jacket when it’s a little cold out, but not cold enough for my heavy down jacket.
