Although my calendar says it is already spring, , NYC is telling me otherwise! . When going out it’s hard to stay warm and cute at the same time, but if you are looking for a great piece to add into your wardrobe you may want to consider a black faux fur vest. I found my faux fur vest at Bloomingdales in the Aqua section years ago in Miami and I finally have a reason to wear it. It originally had a zipper on it, but I had my tailor take it out because I knew I would never zip it up. That is another trick I have learned over the years. If you find a vest that you love but don’t love a small detail on it then take it to your local tailor and see how much it will be to fix it. It was very inexpensive for my tailor to take out the zipper so it was well worth. There are different versions of the faux fur vest that come out each season, but when looking for one it’s best to find one with a silk lining as this makes the vest look more expensive than it truly is. I have had my faux fur vest mistaken for real fur multiple times! When pairing a top underneath your vest it’s best to stick with a solid long sleeve shirt or sweater. You do not want anything taking away from your faux fur piece by wearing a bright colored shirt underneath. A black faux fur vest will never go out of style from season to season. The best part of this faux fur vest that I didn’t’ discover until I was purchasing it, was that it had pockets! Pockets in a vest are hard to come by especially in a faux fur vest, so if you find one don’t let it slip through your fingers ☺
The Over the Knee Boot
Today I want to share with you a purchase that I hold near and dear to my heart… MY Stuart Weitzman 50/50 Knee High Boots! I purchased these boots in the Spring of 2012 and haven’t looked back. At first I wasn’t convinced that they were going to be around for more than a season, they were different from the leather boots I had purchased in the past and I wasn’t sure if they were going to be just a fad. They are so NOT a fad! These boots have not only stayed in style but they have also walked me through four years of city streets and endless adventures. The only thing that I have had to get done to them was to get the heels replaced and that was only this year. 4 years and they stayed perfect! I wear these regularly during winter and can’t not express how great they are. I like the version that has a little bit of a heel to them because I find them to be more comfortable than flat boots for those of us who do a lot of city walking. If you are looking for a great over-the-knee boot these are worth every single penny. When wearing them I suggest tucking your pants into the top of your socks so that they don’t bunch up as you pull the boots on… they are tight on the calves and it is easy to see if your pants get scrunched.
