Summer is the best time of the year in NYC because it’s time to break out those fun dresses that have been hiding in the back of our closets. Last summer is when my love for the gym started and because I was working out so much a lot of my summer dresses just didn’t seem to fit me right anymore. My Mom told me to head on over to Bloomingdales and see what they had because it was Friends & Family. This black dress I found in their sale section for $20! Yes you read that right with all the discounts added on top of it this dress was such a steal! I know there a lot of people who will look at this dress and say its too loose for a summer dress, but that is what I was looking for. For the most part at least from what I’ve seen since living in NYC people like to wear short tight dresses or even long maxi dresses in the summer months. That isn’t the case for me when it comes to my summer dresses. When looking for a summer dress color isn’t an obstacle for me because I will wear black even during the summer. However, it is especially hard to find a black dress that isn’t too plain and simple. I love the detailing on the front of this dress and especially the crossing straps in the back. The details give this simple black summer dress a little something extra to it. It is so comfortable and easy to wear that I am sad that it doesn’t come in multiple colors. If it did I would have purchased it in every single color available. This is honestly the perfect dress to wear to a backyard BBQ, a rooftop bar and even a date night out. When it gets so hot during the summer it hard to dress without sweating through your clothes, but this dress is the perfect mix of fun and comfortable for these summer months. If you are still searching for that perfect dress for this weekends festivities head on over to Bloomingdales and check out their amazing selection of summer dresses. <3
Steals & Deals – Rosé All Day
It’s Friday and we all know what that means it’s time for another Steals & Deals to get us to the weekend. Now I know that summertime is when all us girls in New York finally can show off our pedicures to the world, but sometimes I am not in the mood to wear sandals. For years I would hate having to wear sneakers or ballet flats when it was so hot out. I just felt that they didn’t look as cute with my outfits, but I also didn’t want to wear sandals everyday during the summer months. I finally found a solution to my dilemma… ESPADRILLES!
Sam Edelman has been one of my favorite shoe designers since college. My Mom was invited to an event at Nordstrom for early access to their new summer collection and since then I’ve been hooked. They now have a less expensive brand called Circus by Sam Edelman that is available online and in some of their stores. Not like it wasn’t already a steal at the original price of $55 but they are now only $29! They have a great selection of other styles on their website right now at a fraction of the cost. They are so comfortable and easy to wear with any outfit this summer.
I have personally worn these with shorts, jeans and even a dress the other week. A lot of people think you can’t wear them unless you are going to the beach, but you can really wear them everyday if you really want to. I hope everyone had a great week and for those of us staying in the city this weekend get ready for the rain that is coming in for the next two days. If you want to buy these Rosé ALL DAY espadrilles from Circus by Sam Edelman click the link here, but hurry before they are all gone! <3
Hump Day Treat – Oreo Cheeseake
Happy Wednesday Everyone! Sorry that I have been MIA here on Just Jodi Style. I have been in Miami up until this past Sunday and then my sweet Stella got sick. Did you all know that sugar free gum is just as dangerous as a dog eating chocolate? Stella somehow found gum in a Taxi cab after our flight thankfully she is okay and doing well! While I was home my brother Ira decided he was going to finally make his famous Oreo cheesecake for the entire family! His first stop was going to Whole Foods. Obviously Whole Foods is the place to go when you are looking for healthier alternatives to the not so healthy ones. He found there the “healthy” Oreo alternative and all I have to say is WOW! These faux Oreos were unbelievable so creamy and delicious that I hate to say it gives the original Oreo’s a run for their money.
I always thought my brothers famous cheesecake was super complicated to make, but its really super simple! Here is what you will need:
Ingredients:
-36 Oreo cookies, divided
-1/4 cup butter, melted
-4 pkg. (8 ox. each) Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
-1 cup sugar
-1 tsp. vanilla
-1 cup breakstone’s or knudsen sour cream
-4 eggs
-springform pan for cheesecakes (very important otherwise it will be difficult to get it out of the pan
Directions:
1. Heat Oven to 325 F
2. Take 28 cookies in a plastic bag. Flatten bag to get rid of the excess air then seal the bag. Finely crush cookies by rolling a rolling pin across the bag. Place crumbs in bowl. Add butter and mix well. Press onto bottom of 9 inch springform pan.
3. Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl with a mixer. Add sour cream and mix well. Add eggs 1 at a time and beating after each until it is fully blended.
4. Chop or crush remaining cookies and gently stir the chopped cookies in the batter. The chopped cookies should be 1 – 1/2 cups.
5. Pour the batter over crust and sprinkle the remaining chopped cookies.
6. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until center is almost set. Run knife around the rim of the pan to loosen the cake and make it easier to remove. Let the cake cool before removing from the springform pan.
7. Refrigerate for 4 hours.
8. Take out of the refrigerator and enjoy!
Hope everyone is enjoying the first official day of SUMMER!!!

Throwback Thursday – Overalls
Today I thought I would bring back an outfit that I probably wore on repeat in 4th grade any chance I could. What outfit am I talking about? Overalls! I had my favorite pair of denim overalls that I wore at least once a week to school maybe even more my entire 4th grade year. I still remember my Dad trying to get me to buy a different pair of overalls so I could switch it up and I wouldn’t budge. Finally once they got a hole in them it was time to say goodbye. Recently I have been spotting the trend everywhere from H&M all the way to Bloomingdales. One of my favorite bloggers is WeWoreWhat and when I heard she had created a line of overalls I was desperate to get my hands on a pair of them. I luckily was able to snag two pairs of her coveted Second Skin Overalls including this pair that I am wearing. These are her high waisted black skinny overalls and I am OBSESSED!!! They are so comfortable and fit so well that I don’t want to take them off. Being that I am only 5’2 1/2 (yes that 1/2 of an inch is very important) I always struggle to find things that fit me properly. I always seem to have to take any pair of jeans or jumpsuits to the tailor, but for the first time in a long time I didn’t have to. These overalls fit me perfectly without any need to take them in to a professional. I personally never realized how versatile overalls truly were until now. You can wear these overalls with sneakers, slides, flats, booties, heels or even sandals. The tricky part is finding the proper top to go underneath. For me I have worn body suits under it, off the shoulder tops, crop tops and also tight tanks that tuck in on the sides. The tank that I am wearing is a looser fitting tank from GAP and it is tight on top, but not as tight as a form fitting tank. If you are purchasing from Second Skin Overalls I suggest ordering two sizes. In one of the overalls from a previous collection I was a size XS, but for these I wore a size small. If you are concerned with the $ of these overalls I am here to tell you that it is worth every penny, but if you aren’t sure if you will wear them often check out stores like Forever 21 and H&M for less expensive options. Hope everyone has a great Thursday and is ready for the weekend! <3
Steals & Deals – Gucci Loafers
Happy Friday! I know that in the past I have posted a similar Steals & Deals post regarding the Gucci loafers with fur, but this is different. I have personally fallen in love with the Gucci Princetown Loafers since purchasing my first pair in black leather. They are the most comfortable slides I have ever own in my entire life. You can quote me on that one. However, not everyone wants to spend the money on the Gucci loafers if they don’t think they are going to wear them that often. I have found 4 other amazing options for you all if you still want the Gucci loafer look, but not the Gucci loafer price tag. Sam Edelman makes a similar pair with tassels called the Paris Tassel Slipper for $130. This loafer comes in so many colors I can’t even count! Steve Madden make a similar pair that has a small gold buckle on the front like the Gucci loafers called the LAAURA for only $89.95. If that didn’t get you excited take a look at Topshop. They also makes a suede pair called the Alexa for only $52. But WAIT! It gets even better….I know everyone is loving the metallic shoe trend and if you head on over to River Island website their gold leather backless loafers are get this $50!!! Go to their website now before they are all gone! I can guarantee you all that if you don’t own a pair of loafers yet that after seeing these amazing Steals & Deals you will. I have attached the links to each of these amazing steals at the bottom of this post. I hope everyone had a great week back at work following the holiday weekend. If you are in New York City this weekend make sure to stay hydrated its getting hot out there <3

National Nail Polish Day
Happy Thursday! Also happy first day of June! I personally never feel like it is truly summer until June hits. One of my favorite things about summer is the fact that it is officially sandal weather! Growing up in Miami and then going to school in Arizona I never had to deal with snow and really the cold for extended periods of time. Since I never had to deal with this in the past it was always sandal weather, but now since living in New York City I get excited for the time of year that it really matters if you have a pedicure. This is the time you get to show off your personality with your toe polish and what better way to start summer off with National Nail Polish Day!!! I have been known amongst my friends to be an expert when it comes to nail polishes. There was once a quiz online to name all the names of different brands of polishes and needless to say I got a 100%. Some of my favorite brands include Essie, OPI, Tom Ford and Chanel. I personally wear Essie and OPI more than most because you can buy majority of their colors at your local drug stores. I usually purchase my polishes after one wear of them because 1. I want to make sure that I like it and 2. If I mess up my nails or chip them I can fix it on my own without having to go back to the nail salon. During summer I love to wear the lighter colors like Essie – Fiji, Essie – Go Ginza, OPI – Why Can’t We Be Friends and OPI – Alpine Snow. Also its not a rule that you have to match your toes to your hands. I always do a gel polish on my hands except for the off week that I put the nail strengthener on so it never truly matches the normal nail polish colors. Go out now and get a bottle of nail polish and help celebrate National Nail Polish Day with a fresh manicure and pedicure. <3
Fitness Tuesday: Organization
Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend and are settling back into the work week. Everyone always asks me how I am so diligent with my work out routine with work and also taking care of Stella. The answer is simple…Organization. I know a lot of people use their calendars on their phones and I do too, but it is always a good idea to have a backup. After an incident a few years ago where I lost everything on my phone including my calendar I now swear by also having a paper calendar. In college my friend Jorie introduced me to the Erin Condren LifePlanner and since then I am hooked! Since then her products have increased tremendously including amazing new designs. Unlike other calendars you see in your local Staples or Office Depot the Erin Condren LifePlanners are so sturdy that even after walking home one day in the pouring rain it was still perfect! By visually seeing my week in my LifePlanner I am able to plan out my week of work outs. I also know by now that SoulCycle sign ups are at noon on Monday, but they always show the schedule a week in advance. I also have a back up plan incase for some odd reason I am not able to get into a class or need to change my class around due to a change in my work schedule. After doing this for the past year I now have it down to a science. The only tricky part is when I try to add in a new work out class and figuring out how their sign up system works and when their schedules are released. I am telling you all that organization is key in any fitness journey, but it is all worth it when you see all of your results from some hard work! Head on over to the Erin Condren website to get your own LifePlanner now.

Fitness Tuesday – Summer Body Ready
It’s Fitness Tuesday here on Just Jodi Style and I want to discuss something that everyone knows is coming…SUMMER! With Memorial Day coming up soon everyone is a panic to get their beach bodies ready. I have noticed this personally in all of my work out classes these past two weeks. Normally the 7 am spin class I attend is 75% full, but now there is always a waitlist to get into the class. I want to stress to everyone to not overdue it just to get beach body ready. In reality that body won’t stay long if you are just trying to get an easy fix. For example I have seen a ton of people doing juice cleanses to drop a few lbs fast, but the moment you start back on solid food the weight just comes right back on. Trust me I have done 2 juice cleanses in my lifetime. Yes, I lost a great deal of weight while doing them, but the moment I started back eating normally food all the weight just came right back on. The best way to keep your body great all summer long is to be consistent. Yes this will requiring working out, but you will also need to watch what you are eating and drinking. Something that I learned helps with your metabolism is to start your mourning off with a hot cup of water with a little bit of lemon. This will help jump start your metabolism and also I have noticed that it has helped me when I feel like I may be getting sick. Another thing that helps is portion control. I know that everyone posts about their meal prep for the week, but that gets boring after a while. You want variety and there is no shame in admitting that. I personally look at my schedule for the week every Sunday night to determine my meals for the week before hitting the grocery store Monday morning. I do this because Monday SoulCycle classes open up for the next week and that way I can also plan my meals around my workouts as well. It’s a win win situation you plan your week of fitness ahead of time and what you will eat. Now I don’t plan specifically what day I will be eating certain meals, but I plan out how many meals I will eat at home and enough options for all of those days. I hope this helps all of you with planning your summer bodies. Have a great day <3
